off plan

I was in a spaceship that was hovering over an area on Earth... a particular downtown area in Portland. Our ship was invisible, so we could go undetected. The ship's occupants were just myself, a woman with black shiny hair and straight across bangs (the captain) and the guy from the office. We landed, although we were only supposed to hover. I was going to tell them about the area they were near as they were had never been and I didn't get my chance to be helpful. The captain didn't seem to like me and it was as though I only noticed this at this moment as things were going off plan. The ship had to become visible due to it being material and people could run into it on the ground now that we had landed. It was on this corner of a block that was an open area. It appeared as a small building that looked like a large log structure on its side... modern, with brown painted metal. The grain of the wood had been stamped in to the metal. It was fitting for the area (stump town). I was concerned as she just had it appear and we were not supposed to just show up and reveal ourselves like that. I went outside to see how the people took it and people were fine, buzzing around on the streets like a normal workday. She had made the ground side of one end open looking with glass walls and an open wall that people could walk on the ship. Many young professionals (or want-to-be's) got on... I was running to get on because I wasn't sure why she was collecting them. For research? for??? I was also jealous... I felt as if she was taking on new people and kicking me out. As I approached the glass opening it started to close. I tried to squeeze in but it closed and the people were so packed in I couldn't have squeezed in either way. Somehow I found another entrance on the other side. She was busy with this new bunch of people to ?? and some of our leaders had arrived on the ship as well. She was trying to show them what she had accomplished and woo them as well. I made myself known. I wanted it to seem to her that I was still strong, that nothing really happened and it was work as usual, although I know when our eyes met we both knew what we knew. I took advantage of her business and ran down the corridor to find my friend. He was busy taking care of his duties. We had a close relationship, more along the lines of best friends although I think I loved him and he me. He was a little disgruntled about seeing me. He knew her plan and that I would be fine where we landed but that he could not insure my safety on the ship. I think I was upset in a way that he didn't leave to go with me or protest against her, but it wasn't like that... we didn't have those choices. I could hear her coming and asked him to hide me glancing around seeing there were a few good options that would work. He declined. What would we do next when the ship left.. she still would want to be rid of me and then we would be worse off as he would be in trouble as well. I needed to leave... Then I was hired on with a company some how. I fit in well enough as I had the experience before. It was a bit of events, marketing and pr. They hip-ish gray haired man with little glasses was kind and trying to show me the ropes. I had a desk upstairs that was small and simple. I walked down the open office area to see the other folks. Their desks were made of whiteboard material. I kind of wished that I had that instead. I walked over to another area where there was a machine that must have produced something useful. It had many different colored rose shaped things made of pleated ribbon. They were not secure, and so could unravel when you picked them up. I wasn't sure what they were for. The man started telling me of some duties that would be coming up soon. Some press kits to be made and he hoped I could handle it. I let him know I had worked for a prominent pr company before, and he didn't seem to hear or really care, but he was just happy I could handle the job. I was just happy to be around kind people.
